Untouchable
Cadel wins the Road World Championship. Awesome, amazing, wow! No one could touch him…
I’ve been a harsh critic of him over at Velominati, but I’m happy as Larry to see him take the rainbow jersey. Read more from me on his win here.
Beer of the week: a spring classic
Liege-Bastogne-Liege. La Fleche Wallonne. Amstel Gold.
These are the names synonomous with the Ardennes Classics, the hilly one-day races that finish off the Spring Classics every April in Belgium and Holland. And while the Amstel Gold takes it’s name from the Dutch beer of the same name, I don’t really consider it a classic brew.
This one, though, is worthy of the moniker. Leave it to the Kiwis to brew a great Belgian beer. Wellington brewery Tuatara produces some of the best beers I’ve ever tasted, and their Pale Ale and Pilsener are two of my favourites.
So when I spotted the Ardennes at the local bottlo, I had to give it a try. After all, the words “Strong”, “Golden” and “Ale” always seem to combine for a pleasing result. And this doesn’t disappoint. It delivers quite a fruity punch, a real strong hop slap and a 6.5% kick in the head, just the thing after a hilly, windy Wellington road ride.
As that’s what I’ve just done, there’s no excuse not to have one (or two) right now. Cheers.
Fade to black
A month or two back, I noticed a tiny crack in the paint of my Roubaix Pro. Of course, this could only be no good. Or could it?
More SSWC
Here’s a cool video and story from the Durango Herald on the men-in-drag-on-bikes festival that is the Singlespeed World Champs. I’m getting a little juiced for Vegas next year! Now, where’s my tutu, muumuu and boa?
PNP my ride
See, that’s supposed to be an analogy of ‘Pimp My Ride’.
Because I rode the PNP race on the pimped out GT Marathon.
Not good, I know.
